CONNECTOR TYPE
The EO Mini Pro 3 has been designed with a focus on connectivity and reliability.
With this in mind, there are two ways to connect your EV: With either a Universal Type 2 socket, or Type 1 and Type 2 tethered 5m cable.
The tethered Mini Pro 3 has specifically been designed to bear the weight of a 5m cable and no more, so this option comes with only a 5m cable.
If, however, you find that you need a longer cable, opt for the Universal Type 2 socket. This can be combined with an EO Cable, which comes in lengths of 5m, 7.5m, or 10m.

SIZE
The EO Mini Pro 3 is slightly larger than the EO Mini Pro 2, but it’s still only as big as an A5 notebook (215 mm x 140mm x 100mm).

It has an improved upon sleek look that users love from the EO Mini Pro range, but now with its slightly larger size, the EO Mini Pro 3 can accommodate the 22kW charging option.
DESIGN
The design of the EO Mini Pro 3 is not only slick, smooth, and attractive, its new PC UV stabilised (UL94 V-0 fire rated) casing is also durable.
With IP54 (IP66 on some models) certification, the precious mechanics of your charger will be protected from dust. It’s so robust that it even claims to operate in -25ºC conditions!
Currently, the EO Mini Pro 3 only comes in standard black with a matte finish and removable fascia, but EO says more colours and customisable options will come in the future.
It has a 3-colour LED indicator, which will show in green, blue, or red, depending on its status.
There’s even the option to co-brand your unit. This, however, is subject to minimum order quantities, and not really for the one-off home user.
While the unit does weigh between 3kg–4.5kg, depending on your model, for a home charger, this is still pretty decent.
It’s worth bearing in mind that if you want to post mount the EO Mini Pro 3, you’ll need to purchase an additional backplate. Otherwise, you can also wall mount your charger, both indoors and outdoors.
Worried that someone may plug into your new charger without your consent? You can add a RFID card reader so that only those who you give a tag to will be able to access your EO Mini Pro 3.
You should note that just in case anything goes wrong, the EO Mini Pro 3 comes with a standard 3-year warranty. After this time period, there is also an option to extend this, giving you peace of mind.

EARTH ROD BUILT IN
Gone are the days of earth rods. The EO Mini Pro 3 has built-in open PEN conductor protection. Bear in mind that this is only available for the single phase unit.
WHO ARE EO CHARGING?
EO Charging are a British company who provide charging solutions for EV fleets. EO were mostly known for their corporate use partnerships since launching in 2014.
Some of their clients include Amazon, DHL, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Uber, Ocado, and Mercedes Benz.
However, in 2020 they launched their first EO Mini home charger and entered the home market. Since then, they have become a competitive home EV charging solution.
According to EO, they want to be the bridge between traditional fuel-powered vehicles and electric vehicles, by providing a “new charging ecosystem”.
Though they started in Suffolk and their products are still made in the UK, they now distribute these to more than 35 countries around the world. As of December 2021, EO had installed 60,000 charging points across the UK, Ireland, and Scandinavia.
In a statement made earlier this year, EO planned to have 2,000 more charge points installed by the end of 2022. This is part of their plan to install at least 50,000 charge points at schools, colleges, and universities by 2030.

IS THE EO MINI PRO 3 EV CHARGER SOLAR COMPATIBLE?
With the new ‘Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations’ that came into effect in June 2022, the EO Mini Pro 3 has been designed with the compliance of this in mind.
As a result, it has smart functionality and incorporates pre-set off-peak charging hours.
All of the functions of the EO Mini Pro 3 are controlled through the EO Smart Home app. While there are two preset tariffs, Octopus Go or Go Electric by EDF, you can also enter a user defined EV tariff.
If you select either of the preset tariffs, after entering some information, the off-peak detail will be added automatically.
You can then input your energy prices in the ‘Off-Peak Charging’ section of the app. Once saved, all future charges will show your estimated costs.

CHARGER SCHEDULING
By using the EO Smart Home app, you can select off-peak charger scheduling. You can also set this through your EV.
Bear in mind that if you schedule a charge through your EV as well as through the app, the two may contradict each other and your scheduled charge will not be successful.

APP CONTROL
With the EO Smart Home app, you can manage, monitor, and schedule your charging periods using the app, as well as connect to your solar panels, or even lock your EO Mini Pro 3 remotely.
You can even export your usage data from the app, which will be emailed to you.
For those with a fleet, the EO Mini Pro 3 is also OCPP-compliant and can be connected to the EO cloud, if you wish.
This means that your fleet managers are able to track all of their home chargers in a single dashboard, making management that much easier.
For home users, it’s worth bearing in mind that you can only have one user and one car profile per charger in the app.
However, any vehicle can still charge even if they aren’t the designated car profile, but the data will not be as accurate.

LOAD BALANCING
Worried about the EO Mini Pro 3 overloading your electrics at home? Well, the EO Mini Pro 3 claims to be both safe and reliable.
Using improved technology from its predecessor, the EO Mini Pro 2, the EO Mini Pro 3 has built-in power balancing specs.
By automatically adjusting the output of the charger against the other home appliances which may be using energy, it can prevent energy blackouts, so you’ll never be unexpectedly left in the dark.
