SIZE
One of the features that customers of the Ohme Home Pro love is its compact size.
At only 170mm (H) x 200mm (W) x 100mm (D), this EV charger isn’t going to take up much garage space. At time of launch it was stated to be the slimmest design for EV chargers on the market.

DESIGN
The key feature of the Ohme Home Pro is its interactive LCD control screen, which sits on the slim black polycarbonate case. The case is of solid quality that sits firmly even when pressing the buttons.
The smooth curved corners of the case give it a sleek modern look, and the size and black color both help to make the unit disappear into its surroundings.
Other than the three blue buttons, it’s easy to miss! The screen will even dim when it’s not being used, so there is no glowing light during the night.
The cables sit tidily in a holder when not being used. All in all, it’s very elegant for an EV charger, which can be notorious for sticking out like a sore thumb.

CONNECTIVITY
The charger connects via 3G or 4G. It has its own SIM card, so there is no need to use your home WIFI- very handy if your WiFi connection drops or doesn’t reach your charging location.
The costs of the connection are included for three years, and setup is very simple.
The one drawback to this method is if your home gets a poor mobile signal. A good indication of this is if your phone frequently drops the signal, or struggles to find a signal using 3G or 4G.
If this is the case, then an EV charger that can utilize your WiFi may be a better option for you.
Updates to the firmware can be set up to happen automatically, and Ohme usually roll out updates every few months.

EARTH ROD BUILT IN?
Ohme Home Pro doesn’t require an earth rod or any other earthing electrodes. Instead, it has an integrated O-PEN fault device, as well as an internal RCD Type A with 6 mA DC.
This benefits the user as it cuts down on electrical installation, cutting back the full installation time to around three hours. Due to the IP55 ingress protection, it can be installed either inside or out.

LCD DISPLAY
The 3-inch LCD screen is what really makes the Ohme Home Pro stand out from the rest. Three blue buttons allow the user to cycle through menus, which control the charging options.
Tapping the screen will ‘wake it up’. You will see the default display, which includes:
On the default screen, you can choose either max charging if you need to get going soon, or Eco charge if you’re leaving the car overnight. It’s convenient to be able to set the vehicle to max charge right from the charger. This will override the other settings and charge the car to full- a great option when you know you’re going to need to make a big trip soon.

SOLAR COMPATIBLE
One downfall of the Ohme Home Pro is the lack of solar compatibility. If you run your home on solar, something other than this model would work better for you.

CHARGER SCHEDULING
It’s easy to schedule your charging times through the Ohme app. You can plug your vehicle in when you park it, but it’ll only charge based on the schedule you’ve set.
While the LCD display is handy, most of the set up will be done on the Ohme app. The app is well-maintained by Ohme, reliable, and has an easy to use interface.
The app allows you control over the full list of charging options, including: Charging schedule, price caps, charge cycles, smart charging, CO2 tracking, and much more.
One issue some users will have is the limits of some features due to the lack of connectivity between their app and their electric car. Also, the app doesn’t have access to every manufacturer’s API.
Therefore, it is important to check whether the app supports your car if getting the full use of features is important to you.
